Chinese Embassy takes interview on the July 5 incident in Urumqi

2009-07-16 17:08
On 13 July,Mr Chen Yue,charged affairs of Chinese Embassy took interview from the "Days"newspaper and "News" magazine.During the interview mr Che Yue said that highly violent crimes involving beating, smashing, looting and arson took place in Urumqi,Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region on 5 July .A large number of innocent civilians were killed and many others were injured.Facts have fully shown that it is not an ethnical or religious issue, but premeditated and organized crimes of violence, masterminded and instigated by separatists abroad(the World Uyghur Congress headed by ethnic separatist Rebiya Kadeer) and organized and carried out by separatists inside the country. The government of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region paid great attention to the situation.Police were speedily deployed to protect people's life and property, maintain social stability and restore public order. The situation has now been brought under control. At present, some anti-china forces and media are making use of the July 5 incident in Urumqi in a fact-distorting way. They slander China's religious and ethnic policy, and interfere with China's domestic affairs in order to create dissension between China and Islamic countries. We believe that the Kingdom of Bahrain can definitely see through the attempts of western anti-china forces, and will understand and support the measures the Chinese government takes to maintain national unity, ethnic solidarity and social stability.
